A Note on Congenital Dilatation of the Ureters with Hydronephrosis
نویسنده
چکیده
?cases were practically identical, differing only in degree. The most marked case was that in the child dying youngest, but this was the one complicated by spina bifida. In all three there was marked hypertrophy of the bladder; the ureters were dilated and tortuous, and the kidneys hydronephrotic. In all of them a catheter was easily passed post mortem, and no evidence of a urethral valve or other cause of obstruction to the urethra could be discovered on dissection.

Widespread Arterial Degeneration
In 1931 there was admitted to Dr. Robert Hutchison's ward at The Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, a dwarfed child of 2 years and 3 months. The colour of her skin was yellow like a faded leaf. The urine was albuminous and the blood pressure high. The peripheral arteries were hard and tortuous. Roentgenograms showed irregular, transverse bands of osteosclerosis and osteoporosis in...

Introduction & Objective: Prenatal hydronephrosis is increasingly reported because of more extensive application of prenatal sonography in the recent decades. Determination of causes of prenatal hydronephrosis could help in better recognition of natural course of disease and designing proper treatment protocol. On the other hand, severity of renal pelvic dilatation in the first sonograph...
متن کاملTeashirt 3 is necessary for ureteral smooth muscle differentiation downstream of SHH and BMP4.
Ureteric contractions propel foetal urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder. Here, we show that mouse ureteric smooth muscle cell (SMC) precursors express the transcription factor teashirt 3 (TSHZ3), and that Tshz3-null mutant mice have congenital hydronephrosis without anatomical obstruction. Ex vivo, the spontaneous contractions that occurred in proximal segments of wild-type embryonic u...

In areas where Schistosoma haematobium is endemic, urinary schistosomiasis and pregnancy are frequently concomitant; however, both these conditions may produce similar urinary tract changes in ultrasound scans and hence their differential diagnosis may be difficult. In patients with urinary schistosomiasis, focal and/or diffuse urinary bladder wall changes are frequently detected ultrasonically...
